How (not) to get a Tesla to Odessa

Updated

We all know that trust can be an issue in Web3. There are just too many charlatans; too much shilling; too much hype everywhere. Sometimes it can be hard to know who or what to believe, and, in a bear market, this matters. The good projects lose credibility alongside the bad ones.

Sweat Economy takes the trust of our community and users very seriously. We work hard to demonstrate the long-term commitment we’re making to our token and our community. We don’t want to be a ‘flash in the pan’ but a project with long-term viability; one that’s thought deeply about the sustainability of our project and that has a huge global health-mission at its core. We exist to get the world moving more and to improve global levels of physical and mental health and our mission is to do so by tangibly connecting health with wealth. And whether it’s through our significant buy and burn commitments, governance initiatives or the rewards for our loyal holders, we’re keen to demonstrate transparency in everything we do.

Last month, we ran our biggest prize draw reward ever… a Tesla! The excitement amongst our community was palpable. The clock ticked down and hundreds of thousands of our users staked and opted-in to the draw. And on January 16th we ran a live-video prize draw on Zoom to select a winning wallet at random. This has since been uploaded to Youtube for anyone to watch!

It transpired that our winner was located in Odessa, Ukraine. Now, we’re no strangers to logistical challenges with reward distribution (50 pairs of Nike Air Jordans being shipped to multiple locations around the world in various different sizes was a notable one!) — but this one presented a unique challenge! We were in regular contact with our winner from the outset, and following numerous discussions we realized that getting a shiny, brand new electric car into a war zone — where the electrical supply was intermittent — was probably not the best idea! Whilst keen not to make a habit of it, we agreed with the winner that, on this occasion, it made more sense to transfer the value of the prize to the winner in the form of USDT.

But would people believe us? Already, our winner had been accused on social media of being a ‘team plant’ — and despite his protestations, there is sadly a high degree of cynicism in this world, so we asked his permission to film him as he received his reward and were very grateful for his agreement. This, in itself, became a bit of a mission — finding someone to film, someone to translate and co-ordinating the logistics — but as we all know, the world has got smaller and smaller with modern technology. We leveraged our global network of friends and support staff, took advantage of online translation tools, found a local t-shirt supplier in Odessa — and the plan came together.

The result can be viewed here:

Huge congratulations and thanks to Rostislav, our winner — and a massive thank you to all the team that made this happen. Everyone involved hugely enjoyed being part of such a good news story in Ukraine.

Do you believe us now? (winky face). And it could be you!… don’t forget to check into the Sweat Wallet daily to opt in to our many monthly prize draws.
