How earning crypto by walking works

You can earn $SWEAT by walking with Sweatcoin connected to Sweat Wallet. Your steps are verified, eligible movement creates tokens, and you claim those tokens into your available balance.

01

How your steps become $SWEAT

Sweatcoin tracks your movement and checks which steps are valid. The verified steps within your daily earning range can create $SWEAT, a crypto token. Creating new tokens is called minting. The amount depends on how many of your steps qualify and the minting rate at the time.

Those earnings wait for you to claim them in Sweat Wallet. Claiming moves them into your available balance, where you can use or transfer them. Seeing steps in an activity app and having tokens available to spend are different stages of the process.

The names can be confusing at first. Sweatcoin is the movement app, and sweatcoins are points you can spend in its marketplace. Sweat Wallet is the crypto app, and $SWEAT is the token. You can't exchange an existing balance of sweatcoins for $SWEAT. Your eligible movement earns the token separately.

What you need to start

Install Sweatcoin and Sweat Wallet on your phone. Allow the movement permissions Sweatcoin requests, such as Motion & Fitness on iPhone or Physical Activity on Android. Follow the guidance for your device so the app can keep tracking in the background.

Connect your wallet to your Sweatcoin account. If you create a wallet with Apple or Google sign-in, you still need to make this connection before your steps can earn $SWEAT. Use the Connect to Sweatcoin option in Sweat Wallet, then confirm the connection in Sweatcoin. Installing both apps alone doesn't complete this step.

Earning $SWEAT is available only in supported regions. Check the Help Center's availability list before setting up: being able to use Sweatcoin does not by itself establish eligibility for $SWEAT. A paid subscription is optional; the free plan has its own daily earning range.

03

Which steps earn $SWEAT?

Earning rules checked on 23 September 2026. Your plan determines which verified steps count towards minting each day. The limits below are step counts, not token amounts.

On the free plan, the first 3,000 steps are a warm-up. Earning starts with the steps after that, up to the 10,000-step daily ceiling. Steps outside your plan's earning range don't mint extra $SWEAT.

  • Free plan: steps 3,001 through 10,000 can earn $SWEAT.
  • Sweatcoin Premium: steps 1 through 20,000 can earn $SWEAT, with no 3,000-step warm-up.
  • SWEAT MAX: steps 1 through 20,000 can earn $SWEAT, with no 3,000-step warm-up.
  • Both subscriptions: the maximum remains 20,000 steps per day. The earning ranges do not add together.
04

How much does your walking earn?

There isn't a permanent steps-to-token exchange rate. The minting schedule makes $SWEAT progressively harder to create, so the number of steps needed for one token rises over time. Check the current rate in Sweat Wallet when you want to understand your earnings.

Your token amount and its market value are separate numbers. The daily step limit tells you which movement qualifies; the minting rate determines how much $SWEAT that movement creates. The token's price then determines what that amount is worth in another currency. That price can fall as well as rise, so walking doesn't promise a fixed cash payment or profit.

05

Claiming your earnings

Open Sweat Wallet and claim your walking earnings. Until you claim, those tokens sit outside your available balance. Once claimed, they become available to use. If you've put other tokens into a Growth Jar, its locked balance remains separate from what you can spend.

Walking earnings left unclaimed for more than 30 days start to burn, beginning with the oldest earnings. The app calls this evaporation. Claim regularly to avoid losing them. This rule applies to unclaimed walking earnings; it doesn't burn tokens you've already claimed into your wallet.

Claiming is a blockchain transaction with a fee paid in $SWEAT. You don't need to buy $NEAR to cover it. You can watch a rewarded ad to waive the claim fee; check the fee and options shown in the app before confirming.

06

When steps or earnings are missing

Your phone's step count can differ from the steps Sweatcoin verifies. Your $SWEAT earnings also depend on the daily earning range and minting rate, so a step count alone won't tell you what should appear in your wallet. Start by checking that Sweatcoin has movement permissions and can run in the background, then use its device-specific missing-steps guide.

If Sweatcoin is recording movement but your wallet isn't earning, check the connection between the apps. Minting also pauses if you haven't opened Sweat Wallet for 60 days or Sweatcoin for 30 days. Open the relevant app to resume after an inactivity pause. Opening the apps won't repair a disconnected account: that needs reconnecting.

For missing or unverified steps, contact Sweatcoin support. For $SWEAT claiming or wallet-balance problems, contact Sweat Wallet support. If a security check is holding your earnings, ask support to investigate. Include your phone model, app version, the affected dates, and the exact message you see.

To get started, download Sweat Wallet using the store links below, install Sweatcoin, and connect the two accounts. Check your earning range in the app before your next walk, then return to claim your earnings.
